Things that I recommend and really like
SILENT FILMS
Buster Keaton is an awesome Silent Film comedian
along with Charlie Chaplin and Fatty Arbuckle (who gave Keaton his start on the big screen)..Check him out
and the others i named..along with Harold Lloyd..this picture is from Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr.
It is one of my favorite films
METROPOLIS is one of the greatest German Expressionist
films by Fritz Lang...it was written by his wife and the new restored edition is coming to DVD in Feb. 2003..i can't wait..i
saw both versions and the longer and newer one is definitely 10000000x better..the way it's supposed to be...a lot of the
original film was lost though which is a shame
This is Fritz Lang's colaboration with another director named Robert
Wiene..it's called The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari..it is another breakthrough in the German Expressionist
movement with it's twisted and hand painted sets...a definite investment for any fan...it's about a sonombulust who is controlled
by a mad scientist...it's a very twisted plot too

These two films are by the renown director F.W.
Murnau..the film above is from Murnau's big Hollywood picture SUNRISE..it's a beautiful film mixing
German Expressionism with the big budget of Hollywood..it's the first time any film maker used a track to move the camera
along on...the picture to the right is from the film NOSFERATU...this was Murnau's German Expressionist piece
following the story of Bram Stoker's Dracula...his use of mise-en-scene is one of genious
